Resistance training good?

Someone told me using resistance bands for training isnt a good practice anymore. I wasnt sure whether to believe him or not. What do you guys think ?
 
Depends on the goals....
 
bands are simply not going to give you enough resistance compared to weight training at a gym setting

that is why i laugh when I paid some 'doctor' $90 for a session of physical therapy and he had me do band work as if that would do anything for me but waste my time when i was pulling 150 pounds at the gym
 
They have their place for some people.
For example, some people can't do a single pull-up so you can use those at the beginning to lighten yourself up until you can perform them without help.

In some exercises like deadlifts you can use bands to accommodate the resistance curve.
