Rep speed

Welcome to the EliteFitness.com Bodybuilding Site! Please join this discussion about Rep speed within the Weight Training & Weight Lifting category.

Excerpt: Iíve always thought that you get more from slow controlled reps, besides calves and abs, are there any muscle groups that you like to do faster reps on? Asking this because lately I see so many Instagram videos of people doing bicep curl reps at the speed of sound. So it had me wondering if itís not a bad idea every once in a while. Also I saw a guy break the sound barrier at the gym the other day on triceps but Iíve already decided he was an idiot before that........

Yeah its better to be doing slow contracted repetitions instead of trying to be sonic with your reps.

    Re: Rep speed

If you are doing reps, slow controlled movements will best serve you. When practicing singles for heavy max lift attempts, an explosive movement is sometimes more ideal depending on the person.
