Question on locking out

Excerpt: I noticed some people bring the dumbells all the way up and touch them together on the lockout portion on the DB bench. I just go until my elbows are pretty much locked out all the way or all the way. How do you do it? Does one have a benefit over the other?

    Question on locking out

    I noticed some people bring the dumbells all the way up and touch them together on the lockout portion on the DB bench. I just go until my elbows are pretty much locked out all the way or all the way. How do you do it? Does one have a benefit over the other?

    touching them will engage the interior portion of your pecs. just make sure you touch and squeeze and not use gravity and momentum on the way down

    I generally lock everyone out unless I'm in the mood for lower weight very high rep sets

    It also depends on the size of the dumbbell. The 120s and 130s I use are damn big so theres no way they arent going to touch at the top of the movement

    With smaller dbs you have more range

    I do the effective range of motion and that's it. The rest is a waste of energy.
