Power Jerk versus Push Press

What is the difference between a Power Jerk and a Push Press?

I do quite a bit of Olympic lifting for athletic purposes, and I've come across a program (High Tension Training by Christian Thibaudeau) that uses both on its Jerk-based workout day.

Thanks in advance.

Jerk - the bar is propelled up with mostly legs/hips and then locked out by the arms/shoulders. ie you literally jump the wieght up. You use your chest/delts as a launching pad for the bar.

Push-press, is basicly a overhead press where you use the legs to help "cheat" the weight up and the shoulders/arms finish off the pressing.

basicly the Jerk is much faster than the push press, there is no actual pressing.

Excellent, thank you.

It appears that when push pressing, I've actually been doing a combination of the two lifts! Whoops :)
