PLEASE HELP!!! shoulder injury

First off, I don't ave medical insurance so a doctor isn't an option

Anyway, for a long time now every once in a while when I did certain shoulder excercises I would get a little pain from my right shoulder but nothing big. But a little more then a week ago I did a tough shoulder and back workout with a powerlifter. It was fast and heavy with no breaks, and excercises ive never done. The next day I tried to do a chest workout and couldn't bench 10 lbs. So I gave it a week off but it's still very painfull.

WHAT DO I DO? IS THIS NORMAL. SHOULD I ICE MYSELF, STRETCH MORE, WHAT?

I just started using creatine and weightgainers and I can't even work out

What you experienced is definitely not normal. However, it is impossible to tell what is going on there exactly. It will make it difficult if you want to diagnose it yourself or on these boards. Hate to say, this is a doctor thing.

Having had shoulder reconstruction, I will recommend that you NOT go to a standard doctor. Drugs and surgery are they only things they will recommend and they will not actually fix your problem.

Instead, do some legwork and find a chiropractor or physical therapist that is (and this is the important part) experienced in dealing with athletes and athletic injuries.

It sounds to me like you may have damaged tissue, probably tendon or ligament. If you had nerve damage (been there), you would not be able to lift the weight but it wouldn't be painful. Tendons and ligaments will heal, but they take quite a long time. A therapist could tell you how to heal it properly. I think it's worth ponying up the money (maybe $100 at most) for a visit to a chiro/phy. therapist to get some solid advice for how to handle this. There is a chance that if you just let it go that it will not heal properly and you will have problems with it for the rest of your life.

You NEED to go see a specialist about your shoulder before you do any more strenuous activities with it. I've had my shoulder messed up two times before i learned that lesson :( The last one was something like what you're experiencing.. it could be something small... or it could be really bad like a full blown rotator cuff or something of the sort.

APPLY ice for the first 48 hour and then have a soak in a hot tub to get blood into the area and let some of the knotts loosen. If you can swim a little in a few days time, then that may help. I would still reccomend seeing some kind of specialist if it does not improove soon.

See a specialist asap... I don't recommend seeing any type of message therapist or chriropractor for a shoulder injury because any misuse of your ligaments or nerves can create a serious problem.

I've torn my shoulder 5 times and had 2 surgeries. I recommend starting back with very light weights and taking at least 2 weeks off any routines that put pressure on shoulders (so chest, tri's, bi's). Legs and back should be okay.

dood where exactly does your shoulder hurt? is it in the front or more towards the back?

it's on the outside pretty high up.

Ive been at work all day and it hurts when i lift my arm. I ice'd it last night but I think I may have either torn something, or its a rotator cuff issue. If it doesn't feel better tomorow i'll head to the hospital, but I dont understand how this happened. I was just lifting

thanks for all the advice guys
