I agree on keeping the lowest end of the rep a few inches above the chest for anybody with shoulder issues. I do my heaviest reps that way, and I unload 30% or so of the weight for doing full-motion bench reps. My trick is to constantly change up routines, and fool the muscles. So there's no rhyme or reason to the way I change up. I might do 6 sets of partial reps at 315, and the next time 6 sets of full reps at 265, etc.
Just to clarify; I only have done partial reps on bench, and abs. It's possible that we can benefit from arm curls and others, with partials.
