Theres a new security guard at work whos built like a brick shit house. I mean hes solid, we spoke while I was having my whey shake at work last night about training and he said (quote),"deadlifts wreck ur hips, squats destroy your knees, I wouldnt do them, but thats my opinion" he also said that pushing a weight out (ie leg press) was easier on your joints that pushing a weight up (ie squats).

I mean to an extent he is right. Good form and using weight you can handle mitigates it a lot, but if you are going really heavy, it does pound your joints.

i mean if you lift super heavy and/or use poor form then he is absolutely right

i think every one of us older lifters can attribute several injuries to weight training. as much as i love powerlifting and power lifts, they do wear down the body over time and i wish i would have never lifted super heavy
