Looking versus being strong

Where is the crossroads between looking strong but not actually being that strong and being super strong without looking it. What do you guys think makes the difference in lifting protocols?
 
depends on what you mean by strong. my muay thai prof cant bench or squat much. but he can kick a banana tree until it breaks and im pretty sure i could run full speed into him and not even cause him to take a step back.

keeping a lean stomach is the key

powerlifters who must make weight have a very small waist and low body fat

powerlifters who are heavyweights and don't need to worry about a weight class carry much more fat.

to be lean you must have a perfect diet lifestyle
 
A lot of bodybuilders aren't as strong as you would think. There is a big difference between training for size and training for strength.

Hypertrophy is all about blood volume training. It's very different then powerlifting
