Lighter weight higher reps vs heavy weight low reps

Im goin through a real painful pinched nerve right now and cant do any chest work and have alot of trouble with some other exercises when i try to go heavy,i was wondering if anyone out there has any experience doing lighter weight for more reps versus heavy weight for lower reps,im thinking about giving it a try cause it`ll atleast get me goin on the other groups for now till i can train chest again and if it is a working theory i might just stick to it,anybody with any experience trying it let me know how your gains were vs the heavy weight

i separated my shoulder once and couldn't train for a while. however, when i was able to again, i had to use really lite weights and focus on following through with my movements to build it back up again. then you can slowly get back into heavier weights but you may be doing more harm than good with heavy weights. i'd stay lite for now.
