lifting routine

my lifting routine (on any given excersize) consists of one warm up set and an increase in weight with decrease of reps.

for instance...

bench press.

135lbs x 10 warm up
175lbs x 10
185lbs x 8
205 x 6
225 x 4
225 x 4
225 x 4

This is a common standard bench press workout for me. Similar routine for incline, preacher curls, lat pull downs, etc.....is this good for building strength and mass? Does anybody have any suggestions for something different or maybe scratch this altogether? I've got a buddy who swears by five sets of five with heavy weight the whole time...and another buddy who swears by low weight high reps...

No routine is perfect for everyone bro! Training is alot like diet, you find out what works best for you through trial and error. I personally like the 5x5 routine. Now and then I'll stop and switch it up for a couple weeks to give my body a break from the heavy lifting.
