This is not something I've ever trained specifically for, but I would assume you would want to work out with lower weights and higher reps to not bulk up too much.

i would focus on joining a running group where you can pace with people your speed or faster. that is how you improve
weight training in moderation is okay for a runner, but if you over do it then you are screwing yourself
