The involvement of front delts in the flat bench press

i havent been benching in 2 months, replacing it with the much more shoulder friendly overhead press; and yesterday i hit a PR of 60lbs at 280 which was freaking awesome. what was not awesome however, was the strain it put on my shoulders.

theres a straining sensation on my front delts after the benching session. the straining sensation is felt when the bar is 5 inches to and from my chest. is there a way to alleviate/rehabilitate this stress? ive started doing rotator cuff movements after yesterday in hopes of rehabing my shoulders but my front delts and chests (they tie in together) are so sore muscularly that i cant tell if theyre helping anymore.

haha but a 60lb pr without actually benching is pretty sweet man.

Are you using db or a barbell? My advice would be is lower the weight some more and do higher reps for a month or so also you can look into using a tension band to stretch out some more
