I keep tearing my pec... can it be avoided?

You might not be taking enough time to recover. I tore my bicep in Nov, had surgery Dec 2nd and I just got the ok from the doc to do light arm work. I would imagine with the pec being a bigger muscle, that it would need a lot longer to have that tendon adhere to the bone.

obviously you should stop going over 300 but that's just common sense

are you touching your chest? or are you dropping your elbows past 90 degrees/parallel to the floor? i stopped doing these when benching was starting to hurt. also i hope your not bouncing the weight off your chest either.
