How many times a week ?

Three to six workouts per week.
However it will depend only on you, try different variations and find your ideal frequency.
 
For hypertrophy, 4-6 days per week is optimal.

Short more frequent workouts are better then less frequent marathon long workouts
 
2 will help you just be healthy and maintain what you have
3 will allow you to make some progress althoug it is not optimal
4-5 I find is my sweet spot for results
6 is ok for some but others will just end up overtrained
7 is too much, you need proper rest
 
I wanted to know what is the best average for workouts per week ?


There are so many factors affecting to this that it's almost impossible to tell.

I think a good starting point it at least 3 times per week and in that case I'd recommend full body -type of routine.
