How many days off between workouts?

Never take more than 2 days off.
72 hours between leg days

you can live an active lifestyle and do something everyday first off

in terms of weight training you do not want to work certain parts of the body too often. if you over train shoulders for example you will run the risk of tearing a rotator cuff, if you over train arms you run the risk of developing wrist and elbow tendonitis. treat your body with respect

the young guys reading this can get away with a lot more, but it will come back to bite you as you age. why do NFL RB's rarely make it past 30? there is a reason for that. don't pound yourself into the ground in your 20's.. train SMART
 
I wanted to know what would be the recommended days off after a big session ? 1-2 days suffice ??

There are quite a many variables on the table so it's hard to tell with this little information.

First of all what's a big session? What kind of training split? How many days a week you train? Any cardio training? Diet? Lifestyle? Etc...
