    i got my first hernia about 8 years ago deadlifting super heavy weight with admittely crappy form

    so don't lift super heavy and use proper form..

    as we get older hernia's become more common

    Unfortunately it can happen regardless of prevention mechanisms or actions.
    But obviously it comes down to proper execution of the lift and not trying to push super heavy weights but like I said it's still always a possibility.

    If you lift weights you can control with proper form - you will not get a hernia

    Except for the odd occasion where it's a freak accident, 99.9% of hernias are from ego lifting
