Hill sprints vs flat sprints

Which of the two would be more beneficial for the cardiovascular system? Do you think sprinters run hills? Or do they focus on flat track surfaces?
 
I would do both. You can sprint faster on a flat service but you get more resistance with hill sprints because you are fighting gravity.
 
With cardio and weight training, I always feel like a variety is the best option. It is hard to quantify one being better than the other.
