Heavy duty training

Welcome to the EliteFitness.com Bodybuilding Site! Please join this discussion about Heavy duty training within the Weight Training & Weight Lifting category.

Excerpt: Who on the board uses Heavy Duty Training like Mentzer or Yates? I just started this after using high volume workouts often twice a week per bodypart for a couple years. I had success, but I was always exhausted and sore as shit. This has been a welcome change, as I have already set some PR's in the first week. Yates outlined his original workout that he used up until he won the British Championships

I also train somewhat similar to that, as my focus is on strength.

    Re: Heavy duty training

i shuffle my workouts from 5X5 style to split routines.

i no longer do high volume or overtrain. I am almost 40 and my body was beat to shit for the past decade straight with the longest time off 2 weeks. if i could talk to myself a decade ago i would tell myself to ease up on the throttle. it really is not necessary to train like that to reach your goals, you might get short term results, but long term you will only drive yourself into the ground
