What amount of weight needs to be lifted in order to see significant differences over say 8 weeks? How heavy shouldnI go. ? One rep max worthy?

It's been studied that as long as you train with high enough intensity how much weight you are lifting becomes less relevant.

So in general lift as heavy as you can with varying rep ranges and eat on caloric surplus.

8 weeks is nothing

this is a marathon and not a sprint. guys take years to hit their fitness goals.

it took them 15 years of the best coaching and genetics to make them pro athletes. do NFL players put on a helmet and shoulder pads after 8 weeks of training for football and run on the field for a game? of course not. does a NHL player skate for 8 weeks and then play in a game? 99% of pro athletes have been playing their sport since they were kids and to even make it to any sort of level you have to love the game too. we see plenty of guys get drafted and not amount to shit cause they have zero desire for it.

weight training is no different.
