Do personal training groups get in your way?

Hi,

I'm working on an article (I've posted here before) and am looking to interview people who've found that personal training groups in health clubs get in the way of a workout. Do you have to wait for equipment? Are you tripping over these groups? Do trainers get controlling? If you have any stories or general observations, please email me ([email protected]). I really appreciate your help.

Thank you.

I'd e-mail you but my opinion is short and sweet. Most personal trainers are pricks (no offense to anyone but they are usually a little egotistical) but you have to take the client into consideration. There the poor saps paying $45+ per hour for the personal trainers to show them what to do. So I stay out of there way for there benifit only. I mean I'd want people to get the hell out of my way if I was paying $45+ an hour to use a machine.

My gym is notorious for it. There are a group of 'personal trainers' who constantly take over the equipment with their clientele. The major issue I have with this is that they 'train' their clients in squat racks with low weight squats which only go down about 6 inches.
They constantly stand in the middle of the weights areas having conversations and socialising, which is really off-putting when you are trying to concentrate on lifting weight.
I wouldn't mind if it was a personal trainer here or there, once or twice a week, but they are a f*ckin army, all dressed in their blue shirts and red shorts. Generally four or five at a time in a reasonably small gym. (Only one flat bench press and one squat rack)

I was refering to equipment but yes they do like to stand in the way and shot the sh*t with anyone. If there not with a client I'll walk in between them cause its my money being spent (membership) if there not with anyone.

Seen some good ones as well though. One guy who was training a small group in a gym I went to as a guest was excellent. Well mannered, knowledge was good, and unlike some guys - wasn't a show off. Compare that with some guy I seen in a gym in Israel who was pumped up to his neck in Roids and wearing a wife beater top telling some guy a load of lies about where his results came from!!!
