Deadlift Question

FOr a bb'er not training for strength as much as for mass, would it be a good idea to incoporate a 4x8 rotuine once a month, a 5x5, and a single?

for example, last week..
.135X13
195X10
225X5
245X5
255X5
260X5
275X5

would I want to do 4x8 this week with 75%?

I'm not sure how you would track progress if you keep changing your rep scheme though.

IMO Deads = heavy as you can.... thick knotted density.

Why not keep the 5x5 deads and use Rows (T-Bar, Hammer Strength, or Barbell Rows) for your more hypertrophy style lift?

135x12
205x10
230x5
250x5
260x5
270x5
280x5

that what i want? or do I get the first sets the same and go up 5 in the last only? Last week was hell, that's why i am feared.

No easy answer on this one.
Although, as you know, hypertrophy most likely occurs in the moderate range, some people feel deadlifts are an exception and will train them like Sgt.Slaughter.
You're asking why Coleman does 10's and Yates did 5's.

I think you just have the weights too close together. Try spacing em by around 20-30lbs instead, of 10lb increments. I'd warm up with 135-185, then hit 205, 230, 255, 280.
