Excerpt: I was having a debate with a friend about this. he says that if you overtrain it will increase your chances of getting sick than someone who trains less. i don't understand cause everyone says working out is good for the body and immune system. so what is the science behind over training that will cause you to get sick?

    can overtraining make you sick?

    I was having a debate with a friend about this. he says that if you overtrain it will increase your chances of getting sick than someone who trains less. i don't understand cause everyone says working out is good for the body and immune system. so what is the science behind over training that will cause you to get sick?

    Absolutely it can. Training is actually putting stress on the body. While some stress is good (especially from training), if you overdo it you will wear things down.

    there is a difference between good quality exercise and over stressing your body

    NFL players DO NOT even have padded practices during the season. in the 80's most teams did and those teams would have fast starts to the season then flame out. look at the 49ers of the 80's.. they were the first team to not pound their players in the dirt and they finished the season strong
