Excerpt: Is it even plausible to do a 5X5 program without including squatting or is this ridiculous? my issue is my knees and neck. When i squat both hurt a lot. I think i have a couple discs that are herniated so i gotta be careful, and my knees feel like they are cracking. I was in a car accident a year ago and these injuries haven't fully healed.

    Is it even plausible to do a 5X5 program without including squatting or is this ridiculous? my issue is my knees and neck. When i squat both hurt a lot.     There is no rule where you have to do a certain lift. Listen to ur body.

    Yeah sometimes I squat other times I don't just what I feel like doing that day or if my lower back is sore I avoid it

    With those issues, maybe you should consider not lifting super heavy.
