No you don't ;) 6 months later i have yet to "binge" on Atkins and i have not loss muscle mass. What i have lost is 72lbs. Once again its talk from someone who probably hasn't tried a low carb diet extensively (no offense)

Ok, we need to get some terms straight. Binging is bad, PERIOD i don't care what diet you are on. Binging is eating whatever you want, whenever you want, and as much of it as you want.

Refeeding or carbing up is switching over from one type of diet to another. Like from a low carb diet full of protein and fats, to a low fat diet full of whole wheat products, etc. Going crazy and eatiing junk foods high in cholesterol and trans fats/hydrogenated oils is never good for you and even people on low carb diets avoid them.

Binging is BAD. People who find the "need" to binge often binge on the same types of food. They suffer from food addictions and usually find themselves binging way to much. If you have the will power to have a controlled binge, then you have the will power to avoid it. Its like not drinking alcohol all week so you can get completely wasted on the weekends......realllll healthy.

if im on a low cal/moderate carb diet all week (2000 cal)and then say i binge and eat (5000-6000 cal) one day what will that do my my progress? Will it cause some major damage to my fat loss? Will I fuck everything up like the weeks of dieting? Is that one day going to screw me with all those calories. I figure you can't gain that much fat from eating like that once a week, how could you body even take in that many cals? It seems when i have my cheat day I tend to get started on some carbs and then i cant stop and tear up some serious cals/sugar/carbs. I assume i should not do this, plus it makes me feel sick and bloated.

I know that a "cheat day" is supposed to be having a few extra things, like a small pizza or something like that, but i can't handle that and i end up eating like 2 large pizzas. Whats the cost of this?

D

Your screwing up your dieting ethics

don't be a fool

KWKSLVR,

You sound like a dedicated and well disciplined dieter....I give u big props for that...however, you are wrong on this issue.....6 months of low carb dieting means your leptin levels are most likely now very low....you have lost 72 lbs...that's great, but don't expect to get ripped to the bone by sticking with low carbs.......refeeds become more important as your bodyfat gets lower.......

You don't have to take my word for it.....go to www.avantlabs.com and read Par Deus scientific and enlightening article..........Lyle MacDonald had also made some interesting comments on this issue on the MWF discussion board on google.
