Why should we care about Israel and Palestine?

In the past 3 years the total body count for both sides has been less than 3000. The various wars in Africa blow this body count out of the water. Why should anyone outside of the region really give a damn? Why does it get so much media attention?

because everyone else talks about it. and its a major issue for about 30 countries (arab countries). and it is tied into oil, which controls the world's economies.

Plus islamic terrorism affects world powers like the US & Russia

Because an all out war in the middle east would include:
1- The loss of tons of oil leading to a major economic problem

2- Middle east nations have heavy duty weapons (israel and pakistan have nuclear weapons and other arab nations have chemical and biological weapons). Therefore a war would get alot uglier and deadlier. The spillover of which could seriously effect eastern europe and asia.

3- A war in the middle east would become a world war, while a war in africa would probably not.

4- And i cant forget the political interest groups.

I am sure others will add more, but these alone are a good enough reason to attract more american interest in the middle east as opposed to africa.

If you had some form of media that reached millions, Would`nt you talk about your friends to help them out?

Because it is a clear, scaled down example of the West/nonWest conflict........

Its just like when one lawsuit gets a lot of attention, just because its outcome will effect many other cases
