I think Jeremy21 and Valdez both got it right. I don't believe, that pro-bodybuilders consider 25-40 pound dumbbells even close to heavy.
It has to be said, that being a powerlifter myself, I don't know much about bodybuilding, but in my gym 25-40 pound dumbbells are definitely for the mediocre lifters, who only lift for fun and don't have any ambition of ever participating in any competition. You know, lifters closing in on their forties, growing grey hair and having trouble reaching below their oversized stomach. Damn, that sounds like me!
Anyway, I've just started doing dumbbell curls again after a few months break and yesterday I did 7 reps with 50 pound dumbbells. So I find it very hard to believe that pro-BB's will be using 25-40 pound dumbbells for anything else than warm-up.
