the middle east takes control of their own oil fields? what will happen to american economy/world economy? Will we remain a world power, or will the very structure of world society change?

all I know is I dont get to work if I dont drive my car. I think the same can be said about pretty much the rest of america too...

either appease them somehow

start tapping into your own reserves in alaska, or import more from other countries

invade

i dont see a huge push being made to non petroleum/carbon based fuel until the shit really hits the fan

thier probaly just as dependent on us buying that oil as we are.

it simply would not be allowed, but if it did happen, expect WWlll.

and logically so, crude oil provides a very efficient source of various fuels that cant be matched in price and availability. its gonna take time to build an infrastructure that rivals the petro-industry.

uh huh

plastic is the thing that comes to mind....but the multitude of drugs, and other chemicals we get from it is mind boggling.

and the fact that the oil industry is a powerful political player. if these guys had any sense they'd realise they need to get into the diving seat for alternative fuels now so their companies can survive (a few like BP and shell are beginning to)

these countries would *NOT* survive without the money it recieves from the United States from oil and from other 'programs.' These countries may hate us immensely, but if they want to continue to exist, they have no other choice but to sell us oil.
