What kind of Dog do you have?

Two pomeranians. The trained both from pups where to go potty. Even if its pouring they will run out in the lawn and go, definately nice. The male pretty much knows how to sit/laydown other than that he doesnt do "tricks." The female on the other hand is easily trainable with no treats necessary. Shes incredibly smart in comparison.

Also since they were babies Ive always taken them out in the front when Im doing yardwork or cleaning cars. Its really nice they never run off and just relax all day in the lawn without me needing to worry. Growing up my parents would never let the dogs out so as soon as they had the chance they would book it hahaha. I remember those days.

Hey 25homes, You know there is a free version of the EF Forums software that also runs on Android. Just go to the Android marketplace and search for Anabolic Steroids

Unless you've had several dogs (and not cute "toy" dogs), you really shouldn't get a wolfdog. You need to be the Alpha at all times, and know they will try to take it from you every chance they get. Hybrids can be very unpredictable..someone here who may have had a wolfdog is going to potentially have a completely different experience than you. If your main appeal is the appearance, there are many dogs that resemble wolves and are completely domesticated. The worst thing you could do is get one, find out you aren't adequately able to care for it, and give it up.. because there just aren't enough shelters/sanctuaries who can handle a wolfdog, and more than likely none in your area.

im getting a english bulldog once i find the right one

Had a dobie. proper training took time and patience, but he turned out to be the best dog I could have imagined. When I told people that had met him a number of times he had died, some of them welled up. I'll never get another breed, but I won't get one until I can make sure he's properly trained. Hannibal could have been a huge liability if I didn't take the time to properly train and socialize him. I got stitches from that lovable faggot.

Great points on the hybrids. Anyone have a German Shepherd?

Any recommendation on training? Any good DVDs or book that I can watch/read?

Something along the lines of a guard dog. Growl on command. Etc.

My sister has the sweetest, most loving and adoring, and WORST trained dog of all time. My sister and the kids have no idea how to properly train dogs and they have a toy poodle who is annoying as fuck and thinks he is a gigantic dog and alpha of the house, and they have an actual gigantic dog who is part bull mastiff, part pitt, who thinks he is the size of the toy poodle (he thinks he's a lap dog and wants nothing more than to cuddle), and also has no alpha training. Just in the last couple of days he tried to literally leap into my arms with no concept of his size. I try to be forceful when I'm there, but it's all undone by them letting him up on the beds and furniture, not scolding him properly when he's bad, and basically letting him run ship. The poodle thinking he's alpha is a small annoyance - he's tiny. But Tank is named tank for a reason. He's HUGE and has the ability to inflict serious damage without even meaning to.
