What do you think of runners?

I'm just wondering, because hardcore distance runners are pretty much complete opposite of you. Whereas you aim to get big and strong, they aim to lose weight, even to lose upper body muscle, and get fast and light.

Anyway I have real respect for them, I know running is very difficult. Even more than lifting, distance running is all in your mind, it's all about how much pain you are willing to take.

But on the other side, when you see some guy with a toned upper body, but pathetically small, I mean his arms are as big as my wrists...you just have to wonder.

I like to run, but my body just can't take the heat:( . it is in the mind when running long distances, and also breathing. once you get that down, and can put away the pain of your joints, muscles, you could run forever.

Do you run or jog, there's a difference...joggers are like the guys who come into the gym and do some benching, some curls, a couple lat pulls, and then leave...I'm talking about people who train as runners, with training regimens and stuff :)

I jog too, sometimes. As I have bulked up it is getting harder to go as long as I used to be able to.

I wish I could have it all. Have awesome running endurance, and great strength too. And great speed. And while I'm at it, X-ray vision and the ability to turn invisible :)

I wish I could fly in a sense of those hk martial arts films, and fight like those dudes too. I would like to be able to clear a room full of henchmen from being cornered in 5 minutes. pa PLOW

Anyway...

When I was in college, my roommate would run 120 miles a week. That's a fucking LOT. I mean a FUCKING LOT. Now that averages out to 17 mi/day, I've run 17 mi in one day before, but week in week out shit. And it wasn't all long slow distance too, he'd do intervals and hills and paced runs and fartleks and crap. What a beast. He ran himself into a stress fracture but not before winning just about every 10k he entered :)

I will give this a try before the summer. looks intense.

Zirak-I aint that serious of a runner. I guess you could call me a weekend warrior type of runner. I have bad joints to begin with courtesy of the Marines, so running will not be my forte.

hey Champ

it is intense but you get used to it in like 10 days or so.

I learned this from double days in football....and when you first do it you swear on god's green earth that its' imopossible to do.

we did this 5 days in a row!!!! for 2 months

any way I hurt my legs to a degree form football (not from running but from the game intself)...and when I strarted up again running it hurt like hell for a month....this was like a year and a half ago.....

I almost thought that I should give up running........but I said fuck it!!!!!
I WAS on the virge of giving up to a life onboring cardio machines

you'll see after a while your body becomes your labor.....and if your run consistantly enough you body WILL ADAPT!!!

and injuries will decrease over time......

also all the of quick recovering tissues with good blood flow will get stronger do to the constant challenge you provide them and this will actually help your body compensate for stubborn joints, and ligaments with poor blood flow.

you see when you deo the weekend warrior deal your fast recovering systems never get strong enough to compensate for your slow recovering systems.......so every time you go out on the weekend the only thing your doing is beating up your joints and ligaments.....cus your other muscles have not gotten strong enough to provide a buffer for you

does this make sense????

this will not be easy the first couple of weeks will hurt your hips, kness, ankles, feet everything.........but thats just goes away

I suggest you do it now as to putting it off would have you at a disadvantage because the older we get the harder it is to do this type of thing?

ease into it and you will have a good time
