tried to come off methadone...

I have to agree with Mike...

Being a psych graduate and reading tons of studies regarding meth as being far worse than opiates in the long haul I would consider a quick supervised detox.

It wont be pretty, or easy, nor pain free, but you do what you must by any means available.

I receive quite a few email within a 2 week period requesting sources for nubain...

This is the reason I never refer anyone to a source I know or may not know that offers this product, its a matter of my overall conscience.

Best of luck bro,
WCP

All I can do is offer support. I wish you the best. I have no doubt this will be the toughest thing you ever go through but it sounds like with the great family support that you have a real good reason to succeed.

The good news is you can be free of all opiates, the bad news is you need to do it in a setting, ie 28days or more if you can afford it with some addiction specialists.... getting off methodone is easy, staying off it is the long term process, ie getting involved in a community of other recovering addicts..... but as for getting clean right now you need to go into treatment...IMO, i am not a specialist.....

Payrion.........Listen to me good here bro. I went down the SAME exact road you did bro. I was banging 10-12 bags of heroin a day in my arms back in the mid 1990's. As far as that "rapid opiate detox" is concerned, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND PRECIOUS TIME!! I did that "procedure" here in Jersey back in 1995. I felt like SHIT when it was all over. I woke up in the middle of FULL BLOWN withdrawal. They say that you'll "catch the tail-end", but thats TOTAL BULLSHIT. They then put you on "naltraxone", an oral opiate blocker so you dont relapse. Thats MORE BULLSHIT. That naltraxone blocks even natural opiates produced in the brain. This makes your joints and bones feel like 80 years older. Basically, the way i got clean was by way of "Buprenex". (I might have it spelled wrong) I went into a five day detox where they give you Buprenex every 3-4 hours. This was PAINLESS BRO. Plus, some words to make you happy: there were a bunch of people there getting off methadone as well and they ate like horses and slept like babies!! This is your BEST BET bro! If you need ANY more info on this, PLEASE feel free to PM me!!!!!! BTW, 19 months after i got clean (thanks to Buprenex), i won the Heavyweight class (but not the overall....oh well) at an NPC show here in New Jersey. You can do it too my man!!!!!

well i had 2 hard years of nubain, morphine, oxycontin use.... i went to a methadone clinic 3 months ago and have had pretty good success but when whining down on the meth dose i started using oxy again and today had to suck it up ang go back up on methadone to keep from being dope sick, anyone else go the methadone route? i want stories and not some " i was additicted" story, i have a real real bad problem.....and am trying to kick it for real and if your not in the game YOU DONT HAVE A CLUE!!!:(

a family member played with methadone to get off other drugs, guess what, he just traded in one addiction for another. you need to figure out why you need drugs, what issues are you not facing, and get some balls. take it from me, the family member in question has been on now 20 years, has no teeth, dick DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, has no body hair aside from head, and his nervous system is all wacked out. you need to sober up guy! drugs like those are for morons. do you really want to be a crack head? i aint flaming you, just trying to reach you. it's your life, dont you want to enjoy it man? methadone is very addicting and if taken too long you have to be hospitalized to get off it, or you could have a cardiac arrest!

Trying not to flame bro, but, you dont know ANYTHING about opiate addiction. This dude needs Buprenex and FAST!!! The two things he needs are this: 1. Buprenex for withdrawal comfort
2. A supportive environment......i.e.: The first week he needs to be under INTENSE supervision by a friend(s), family, etc.

BTW, an opiate addict (heroin, methadone, oxycontin, etc) is NOT A CRACK-HEAD. Two totally different drugs and two TOTALLY different withdrawal symtoms. Get it right before you pass judgement on this hurting soul we are trying to HELP!!!!! He's one of US whether you like it or NOT!!!!

bro, i wish you the best of luck in this battle. Im sure you will pull through it, especially since you know you have the problem and you have family support. Just think about your family and why you need to be there for them. I watched an old training partner of mine go through oxcontin abuse, he was shooting over 80mg's per day. He finally kicked it, best of luck to you also.

Chances are that you will not be able to do this by yourself. After you detox(medically supervised), I agree that you need to go to a 28+ day program to have some time to reflect on yourself and your life and learn why you need to escape using drugs.

This is not your fault. It is the drugs. They are evil. Try and get to an NA meeting. That will be a good starting point for you to see that it is possible to forever rid yourself of the demons.

Best of luck to you. I know you can do it.
