Some serious diet questions...

Ok this post might be kinda long please bear with me. I am very tall (over 6'4") and skinny (this summer I weight 163). I started working out really hard this summer, I've made some decent weight gains and I've also made some decent size gains, I now weigh 170, but you can tell my muscles are getting bigger...

You know my type, I'm the kind of person who has never had to worry about what they ate, weight wise, I could eat a fucking ton and Id never put on a single ounce.

Basically I havent been following a diet, that is, eat whatever I want. A usual day's meal is,

Breakfast:
bagel + banana + OJ + 25g protein

Lunch:
2 cartons milk, PBJ Sandwich

Snack (2pm):
2 cartons milk

Snack (5:30pm):
a thing of tuna

Snack (7pm):
25g protein

Dinner (8pm):
Rice + chicken, or pasta, or stuff (I eat a really big dinner usually)

Snack (10pm - SOMETIMES, like 1/3 of days perhaps):
can of chili

Now I have noticed some fat around my waist that was not there before...granted I also am noticing more muscles, but still...I am a bit worried about the fat. Any ideas?

Do you have any diet suggestions, I feel I am a bit weak on vegetables and things. Also lots of people eat oatmeal in the mornings, do you recommend that instead of a bagel.

Bottom line, my friend....

.... you WILL gain some fat when trying to build muscle. It's one of those things you can't avoid. Like death and taxes.

Oatmeal is probably better than a bagel. I don't think there's any carb source that compares to oatmeal, and bagels have a higher GI. So yeah, make the switch.

But if you're trying to gain weight, fact is you gotta eat like crazy.... especially if you've got a naturally super-charged metabolism (which you obviously do).... so eat more carbs, more protein, more healthy fats.... and don't worry if you get a little soft around the mid-section. It's inevitable. That's part of bulking. You can take it off again when you think you've bulked enough. In the meantime, enjoy the freedom to eat any food you want.... and then some.

Your Diet is Horrible, that's why.

350-400GRAMS or Protein Daily.
250 - 300Grams of Carbs Daily.
70 Grams of Fat Daily (Unsaturated)

I know 400grams of protein a day is hard, But gaining muscle is not easy. You do what you have to do.

Good Luck.

I'm sorry bro.....but I would definately have to disagree with you on the 350-400g of protein each day. 1.5-2g per pound of body weight is enough to gain mass. The carbs you suggest look close enough to accurate. I would also have to disagree with the amount of fat that you suggest. Suffice to say that for his body weight 40-50g of EFA's would be ideal. Stanknogger......2 cartons of milk is not a very good snack....try to get some protein bars or something for your snacks. Throw out the can of chilli at the end of your day and replace it with a proein shake (I'll suggest casien).

If He shoots for 400 grams of Protein daily, he will ALWAYS hit at least 300.

That's why I suggest what I suggest. I realize that 2grams of protein per lb of bodyweight is enough to gain mass.

I've always found that when I consumed more milk in my diet the fat gain was greater than when I eliminated it and replaced it with other foods. This may or may not be true for your metabiolism. However, I always recommend keeping a food log along with occasional body fat analysis to keep track of what works for you.

milk

Why drop the milk and replace with a candy bar, er I mean protein bar although it really is a candy bar. Keep the milk in your diet if trying to gain weight. Nonsense to drop it.
But looking at your diet, you say you eat a ton, well you really are not eating that much. and just protein in itself does not add size. protein along with complex carbs and correct balance of fat does that.

damn man, eat. eat a pizza, eat. eat . eat.

yeah i agree with the game. I see this a lot peep saying that they cant gain no matter what tehy eat. But in the end they are eating like 1000 cals less then me. Just up you cals a lot more, eat more, scarf more, eat like a damn pig damn it :D

oh yeah and watch you ratio's :o
