So is it possible for a lanky giant to actually gain size?

breakfast
today for example
10am- 2 cups of oatmeal
11am- 1cup cottage cheese
noon- 2 packs of smoked almonds
1pm chef salad with bluecheese, lots of ham/turkey
2pm icecream cookies and cream
8pm rice, gravy, with a ton of beef bits

Drank about a gallon of water, 1 coke

not enough protein.

you're wasting a gift from god at 6'8 if your smoking cig's and dipping. no offense

need help quitting the cigs? go into some 10 foot surf or a rapid river and then you'll value your ability to breath effectively and never think about smoking again

yeah bro, you need to eat way more. smoking is super bad too. don't do it. dipping doesn't really do much for me.
i would switch the cottage cheese to before you go to bed, and try to eat every 2-3 hours with some protein in every meal. like add some eggs or a protein shake with your oatmeal. ice cream and cookies should be eaten with moderation. add more veggies and chicken breast, salmon, tuna, protein shakes.

1.5 g protein per pound of bodyweight and 2 or even 3g of good carbs also per pound of bw. Try to get good fats from fish-oils, Poliquin has some nice of those! All your meals have to have protein, carbs and healthy fats. Go for six to 8 meals a day, save the sugars to the post-workout meal! If you start to gain fat lower the carbs a by 50g less a day, if not gaining eat more. Try to have a shake of slow release protein mixed w oatmeal before going to bed. That should help! Your body, your temple... if you treat it right, you may expect rewards...

I'm 6' 5" and I already put on 45lbs from when I started and I'm still gaining. So yes it's definitely possible for a tall guy to add tons of muscle. Just remember to eat. I usually get 5,000 calories a day minimum and some days I go up to 7-8,000 calories.

You should always have a meal in your hands or not far from you. Every 2 hours come Hell or High Water...

Excellent advice I've read so far. Definitely up the protein for sure. If its hard to get food in you 6 - 8 times a day, use a meal replacement supplement for 2 - 3 meals..give up the tobacco crap and use that extra money for the protein.
You cant reach your goals without changing your habits.

This guy knows wtf he's talking about too!

BassMaster, you're barely eating as much as a 12 year old girl! No wonder you can't gain weight! That "diet" you posted has NO protein! Smoking also will cause you to eat less (supresses your appetite). Ever notice when people stop smoking they usually gain weight?

So, do whatever you need to do to stop smoking. Then, increase protein intake to 2.5 grams per lb. of bodyweight, eating as much red meat as you can. Get a good protein shake also. If you feel like you can't eat a steak/burger/chicken breast/whatever...drink a shake.

Oh, and if you don't have a good workout program that emphasizes progression, do the basic 5x5.
