pizza craving, so making my own

frankenfurter

New member
I got a pizza stone as a gift for Christmas and I have never used it. So this weekend I thought I would make a pizza, but do it in such a way as to stay consistent with my eating habits (I'm cutting).

I have a recipe for whole wheat pizza dough, and my toppings will be fresh and canned tomatoes, roasted garlic, onions, mushrooms, and a light sprinkling of feta cheese. I'll let you guys know how it came out, and post the recipe if anyone wants it.

I can't wait to see my kids faces when they see it; "Daddy, this doesn't look like Dominoes!"

Whats the break down on whole wheat crust? Carbs, etc. That sounds really good

I'm low carbing so my pizza is crustless ;)

When i diet like right now, i usually on saturday order a pizza from a place down here that bakes it in a oven, no grease.
I get it with no cheese, ham, mushrooms and grilled chicken, and i must tell you that's the only thing that keep me going! Good luck with your Pizza! MIKE_XXL

mmm...PIZZA

Definitely post that recipe ifi t comes out good!!
Another quick way to make a "good" pizza is with whwt pita, spread a couple tbl. of olive oil on it, sauce optional, peppers, tomatoes, chicken, 'shrooms, ect. then some 2%shredded chz. I like Sargento brand. Put on a cookie sheet, bake for 15- 20 minutes and you have a wicked good, not greasy- loaded-with- artificial- saturated-fats pizza.
If you try it ,tell me what you think!!

mmmmmmmmmmm... pizza! I am a big fan of taking one day a week off as a free day. In fact tomorrow's my day - Pizza Hut here I come! This has obvious psychological benefits, but it also has nutritional benefits too - a few hundred calorie deviation every several days keeps your body from getting accustomed to your current nutrition program, resulting in a more responsive environment to diet and exercise.

Do you guys think that the cheese is more detrimental to a good, clean diet than the overload of carbs? I always try to (when ordering out) get half or no cheese, but is it worth it with all the extra carbs and grease involved anyway? Hmmm...

I wouldn't say either is detrimental, but it depends on nutritional goals and what you already ate so far that day... it is possible to "budget" a slice or two of pizza into most diets (xcept keto).

Have any of you tried vegan cheese, or soy cheese, etc. on your pizza? Obviously the soy is high in protein. I hate feta more than anything so this is what I usually use. And it is seriously good, I'm NOT fucking with you here, it really does taste like regular cheese. Just make sure you get the kind that melts...or there could be trouble.

Y'all should post some recipes here.

I get half cheese too, these days the cheese & grease overload makes sick after 2 slices.

Thanks for the replies!! LadyM, I have never tried soycheese or vegan cheese, but I will have to now!! Ils. Son, I get sick off of to much grease too. Oh, well... Comp. Musc., I usually save pizza for my cheat days, so I guess it would depend on what I had already taken in for the day, good point.
Have you guys ever had ovenroasted sweet potatoes?? Like sweet pot. chips, xcept homemade!!
Just slice it really thin, about 1/8 in., coat with egg white and olive oil that has been whisked together, so a little frothy. Lay slices on a sprayed cookie sheet, not touching, and sprinkle cinnamon and ginger over the slices, and bake at 450 for 18 -20 min, turning once. Salt to desired taste!
These are SOOOOOO good, addictive!
