Name something that reminds you of a love one that has passed...

When my dad found out my mom was pregnant with me he bought her a diamond necklace. When he found out my mom was pregnant with my sister he got her matching earrings. When he died my mom put them in the safe deposit box until we were 18. I've wore the necklace just a few times. I plan to wear it at my wedding.

dang raina that is so sweet

Fishing, hunting (squirrels, especially ducks, deer, doves, pheasants, quail, and riding along old dirt roads at nights in the truck with me sitting on the hood/grill with my .410 waiting to blast rabbits who jumped out into the truck's headlights), throwing old beer bottles into a lake so I could shoot them - target practice - with my .22, chalk mines (he worked in one), pro-wrestling (he was a big fan), Coca-Colas in the bottles and pouring peanuts in to mix with the coke, car auctions, flea markets, red pick up trucks, remodeling my home(s) - he built 2 houses all by himself, he had a backhoe to scoop out the foundation and then he poured the concrete and built the entire house, structure, electrical, plumbing, etc... all by himself. Never had a single person to help. Did this once in the middle of winter time. it was brutal, I remember sitting in the soon to be front yard huddled around a fire we made out of 2x4 scraps watching him cut beams, door frames, paneling, etc... while snow came down. Watching some teenage kid cut grass all summer - he made me do it to pay for my own high school class ring. Which he promptly reimbursed me double fold for it so I had spending money for our senior trip.

All of these things remind me of my dad.

When ever my dad makes linguini & clams..I think of my grandpa. Everytime he came over he made that for us. Now my dad took over the role.

good sex

When I get my chainsaw out for the summer. I think of a buddy of mine who
used to be a lumberjack who died in an accident .
We were best friends since we were 9.
His family was a mess so he lived with me and my family alot.
He was one of us. There is a picture of him on top of parents TV.
There isn't a picture of me in the whole room.
Took a whole lota booze to walk up to that fucking casket!

I saw Tang at Costco the other day -- my nan always made me Tang....also every time I'm in Michael's or see silk flowers I think of her as she hated silk flowers with a passion....They look a lot nicer now Nan!!

My Grandpa... the only one I ever knew, the other died of a heart attack before i was born.
I used to stand on the back of his wheel chair and he would roll me around the old hard wood floors of the farm house my Father grew up in.
I also remember trying on his dentures when I was very young...they were in a glass by his bed where he slept. One of the the most amazing people I have ever known. I still miss him to this day and have so many questions for him I wish I could ask.
Everytime I used to drive by the hospital he died in I'd still get teary eyed. We were going to visit him after we found out he was sick and in the hospital... My mother went inside while my brother and I waited in the car, she came back and explained that he was no longer checked in the hospital.
At his funeral a few days later, near the end when they spread the flag over his coffin, I broke down and didn't stop crying for the rest of the day.
So many things I wish I could talk to him about. My other grandfather as well...never got to meet him but everyone in my family says that I am most like him out of everyone in my family.

With most of my thoughts and deeds, I think of my maternal grandmother. I wonder if I will ever be HALF the woman my Mama was... I can die happy if I accomplish this goal.
