Low carb diet and Atkins bars

Im on a low carb diet and Im consuming 50/100gr of carbs daily most or all of it post-workout... sometimes I crave a sweet when I wake up in the middle of the night...it would be OK to eat a Atkins bar? The label says 0 sugar but 2gr of carbs...These 2grams of carbs would cause a insulin spike!?!?!
I dont know why but I trully believe on the carb % of Atkin bars but I dont believe on EAS, Labrada, met-rx etc... They CANT be so low in carb and low in fat at the same time...If they are low in carbs you need more fat to make the bar and I also read an article saying that the FDA is asking EAS etc to change their labels cause new research showed "hidden" carbs on EAS etc protein bars...Hidden carbs = glicerin.... Although EAS says that glicerin does not count as carbs cause dont affect insulin some diabetic people were feeling sick after consuming some protein bars and thats why labrada changed their "Low Carb bar" to "Carb watcher"

They are okay but misleading. Count the glycerin as a carb. The bar does not but they have the same effect as a carb.

Umm, I don't know if you are aware but, Atkins bars contain glycerine just as EAS and Labrada bars (as with every other low-carb bar out there). Personally, I consume one low-carb bar a day (Atkins, Chocolate Mocha Crunch). The glycerine does not kick me out of ketosis. However, it may just depend on the person. So, just make sure to check to see if you're still in ketosis a few hours after you eat the thing.

1G of ALA and a peanut butter Carbo-Lite Chocolate bar....Dont eat too much youll be pissing out your ass sideays though..................

Hah, you're telling me. I finally came across those "Carbolite" products last week. Chocolate covered almonds...WHITE CHOCOLATE BAR...and, and, chocolate covered raisins! Oh my, all this forbidden food was now at my disposal (and at a very low carbohydrate count). Needless to say, I tore into those things like nobodies business. Finished them all off in a matter of minutes. AHH, sweet...good stuff. Then I read "Excess consumption may cause laxative affect". Interesting.....about an hour later....I had a bad case of "Da' runs". Never again will I eat anything with Malitol....NEVER!

O Grams of Carbs???? Where do you get that from?

Most of them have 2 grams of carbs that you can count. ALL low carb bars REALLY have about 15-25 grams, the difference is that the majority of the count does not affect blood sugar. Screw Saturated fat, no big deal there, its trans fats you want to watch out for and Atkins bars are the only ones that i know of that are free from trans fats. Carb Solutions are also another good one that i use. I haven't tried any of the carbolite products yet.
