i have to agree with the idea that if she can meet the physical demands then have at it. but to lower the standards is really putting people in greater danger for the sake of political correctness. i agree there are alot of women in better shape than a lot of firefighters. that's not the point, i've seen a special on women firefighters and they could'nt drag the hose up a certain amount of stairs. they were unable to do a lot of the stuff required yet the standards were dropped and they got in. a woman has the right to go for it but i don't like lowering the standards just so she has a better chance. i don't think i know any woman strong enough to haul my 6'3 330+ rear out of any place. most men can't do it, lol.

As for lowering standards for firefighting, or anything else, I can see why they would do that if there was a shortage of firefighters, and so they just need to get bodies on in there. I have no idea if that was the case with that special you watched. Although...I bet you can make a special on how some male firefighters cannot drag the hose up the stairs after a certain number of flights if they went around looking for them.
