I need to cut fat%...why so much conflicting info?

Hey everyone...Happy Thanksgiving,

Could someone give me some advice please?

I'm new to this site, to bodybuilding and all the diets/info/supps that go along with it. It's really interesting, I've been glued to my computer for a couple days doing a little research...I've learned A LOT ! I had no idea you guys had taken this art form to such a scientific degree. I'm not actually a bodybuilder...I'm a self-concious actor (with a nice little gut) that I desperately want to get rid of. I'm 6'4''/ 205 lbs. and my Body Fat % is about 18.5% (which I've been told is borderline obese). Well shit..nobody had to tell me that I can just look in the mirror. The majority of my fat resides under my belly-button and on my lower back & sides & my jawline/neck)....and I'll tell you it really pisses me off. In the past I've had some degree of success with just eating less and cardio...but I never got the results I wanted and ended up just loosing interest. Well now I've had it !!! It's time for me to shed this layer of shit! Recently I've been doing 20 minute stretch, 40-45 minute cardio (eliptical machine/bike) at about 65 to 75 % of my max heart rate and then a 30 minute lift, followed by a sauna. My diet has consited of about 85% protein/ 10% carbs/ 5%fat. I swear for about thirty days the only thing I ate was chicken breasts, MetRX whey protein shakes and bars and tuna. I would cheat for one meal on the weekend (usually fajitas). My results were O.K. I guess (on the scale that is)... I went from 205 to194 in about 20 days. I noticed that I looked a bit thinner and felt a stronger thinner body growing underneath my sick layer of fat, but I felt like I WORKED SO FUCKING HARD AND DIDN'T GET THE RESULTS I DESERVED. IT'S SO DISCOURAGING. My main bitch is that after all this cardio, lifting and dieting my bodyfat % did not go down one fucking percent....not even a tenth of a %. What good is any of this if I can't see any of the results (or barely)?
I'd like to start a CKD diet with xenedrine suppliment...my question is what do you think I did wrong the last month? Why did I not loose any body fat? What were my mistakes. How can I avoid making the same mistakes? (I lost weight)...I guess it was Muscle? I'm confused their seems to be alot of conflicting information on this site (and in general)... I'm not quite sure what to think.
I just want to loose fat... I'd like to get down to 9 or 10% (or what ever it takes to see my abs, biceps, and loose the baby fat around my jawline and neck. I'm happy with the body that I have underneath the fat.....I know that sounds funny but I actually have a very good physique (tall and slender with muscle where I need it)....it's just that I can't fucking see it. At this point I'm not even really concered with gaining muscle....I guess I'd like to get rid of what I DON'T WANT (and see what I've got) before I start adding.

My apologies...I know this letter is probably elementary for many of you...but it seems that many struggle with the fat thing....not many seem to struggle as much with gains?

A few more questions...
Is CKD the best diet for me?

If I do the diet, get results and then later decide to go off...will I get fat again?

Is there any other supplement in addition to xenedrine that will assist me in my endevors without fucking me up, making my hair fall out or my dick shrivel up?

How long do you think it would take me to go from 18% to 10% bodyfat with CDK, cardio/weights and xenedrine? A couple months?

What would be the reasons I couldn't loose the fat....please don't say genetics. That makes me so depressed...

I've read a lot and feel like they're so many options but don't know for sure which one to take? If anyone has any words of advice or anything for that matter that you think may help me achieve my goals....then please don't hesitate to write!

Thanks a million for your time... I hope to hear from some of you pros.

Michael:)

I'm no pro.

But I can share what I know. First and foremost, forget the bodyfat percentages. They mean nothing. They're about as accurate as a.... I can't think of a good one, but something not accurate. Use a tape measure around your waist, use the scale, and look in the mirror. It could very well be that you DID lose weight last time.... just didn't show up in the bodyfat % because those things are inaccurate.

By the look of things, I think your carb and fat levels were down too low. That's actually what I do.... in fact, when I diet I have almost NO fat, and very little carbs.... but what works for me might not work for everyone. I would adjust the ratio, and increase the complex carbs intake.

Your cardio seems fine, although I would switch it around so you're doing weights first. You can use up more glycogen that way, so you get into the fat-burning phase of cardio faster. Also, you could try lifting/cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Some people say this makes a difference, others say it doesn't. But since you're looking for new approaches, I'd say give it a try.

I don't know about CKD diets or anything like that, so I won't comment.

I'd keep doing what you're doing, except make those changes. More calories in the form of fat and carbs could be what you need, strange as it sounds. Sometimes when your body feels like it's in starvation mode, it fights you for the fat.... and usually wins.

And ignore the bodyfat %.... trust me, I've studied this. There's no way to get an accurate reading as a percentage. Use tape, scales and your eyes.

DO NOT DO A CKD-the lack of carbs will make it harder to put on muscle. Eat 350g protein a day and 100g carbs. Do not eat dairy, bread, red meat-DO eat chicken, turkey, fish also lift first, then do cardio

Here are my suggestions:

1)Lose the 'quick-fix' mindset. I know it's difficult when you first get started with a diet, but it really is imperative. We all want results now, not later, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Long term weightloss can only be achieved gradually, not by crash-dieting. Set short term, realistic, healthy goals, say like losing 1 lb a week(BTW trying to drop much more than 1.5-2lbs a week will result in excessive muscle loss.)

2)Personally I disagree with DanielBishop on the worth of bodyfat measurements. They are fairly inaccurate but provided you have it taken under the same circumstances, i.e. same time of day, and by the same person--this is actually the most important thing--they provide the best yardstick for your progress. Having it taken by one person and then checking it again with someone else, or using different tests(3-site caliper v. 6-site caliper v. bio-electrical impedence) will result in unreliable results.

3)Your macronutrient ratio is way off IMO. If you want to continue to eat carbs, a 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30%fat ratio is a good starting place. Take a look at a book like "The Zone" by Barry Sears for more info on something like this. CKD's are also excellent if you have trouble controlling your appetite, as ketogenic diets tend to suppress appetite quite a bit--at least in most people. As to which diet is best for you, that's something only you can determine.

4)Cardiovascular exercise is a vastly overrated tool for weightloss IMO. Lifting weights and watching your diet are far more important. Putting on a few pounds of muscle will speed up your metabolism significantly and help keep the weight off. Doing some cardio is fine. Just don't think rely overmuch on it.

5)Yes, you can gain back the weight you loose. That's why is important to make a committment to eating well even when not dieting(This is one of the disadvantages of CKD's as I think you are less likely to make this transition.) Dieting merely implies a deficit of calories.

6)Going from 18% to 10% bodyfat at your weight means you have to lose about 16lbs of fat. Considering you'll lose some muscle no matter what you're probably looking at 21-22lbs of total weightloss. This shortest time frame in which I think this can be achieved is about 11-12 weeks. So yes, it's possible to do in 3-4 months. But don't give up if it doesn't happen this fast. Remember you're in this for the long haul.

Hope at least some of this helps.

Rub Mayonnaise all over your body three times per day. Youll be amazed at how much fat you lose. The mayo can also be used as a topical delivery system for the mass amounts of garlic you should be taking in. Just remember 3 times per day.

Yo!! SoCo4Fun....

Thanks for the advice! It sounds a bit strange, but I'll give it a try. However, I've got a prerequisite... first you'll have to take a nice big greasy dump in your hands and rub it all over your face and neck. What this will do is help to purge the rest of the shit that you're completely full of. The shit will also act as a topical stimulant...once it's absorbed into your funny face you will feel like you've just dropped a hit of LSD and most likely go completely insane.
Once again....thanks a million!
Good luck with your purification process...
Michael
