I need help settling a bet$$

Allright I got into a discussion with one of my friends about the most muuscle someone can put on in a year, naturaly. He claimed it was possible to put on as much as 10lbs in a year, I disagreed. From the few nutrition and pathophsiology courses I've taken I destinctly remember reading that the most muscle someone can NATURALY pu on in a year is 3-5lbs and any other weight gain is attributed to either water or fat. Can someone back me on this?
 
I am not going to back you I think in a year with right diet, training and some half decent genetics 10 lbs can be done with out gear.

its very possible to gain 10 pounds a year naturally.
but really depends on previous training history..

a newbie in his late teens/early 20's with exellent genetics can put on 30 pounds the first year.. i seen it happen with my boy in sophmore year college..

dude just blew teh fuck up..
his whole family are monsters.
 
Perhaps my thinking is only applicable to those already at their genetic potential? I really don't want to go through my old books.....

Now that my friend is a diffrent story :)
 
I trained a 17yr old several yrs back, i put him on a diet and heavy weight training and within the year he blew up 32 pounds of pure muscle his bench at the start was 118lbs he finished at 405.

Yes! Its possible to put on 30 pounds of muscle in a year,
I highly Doubt this could apply to someone in their late twenties or thirties tho.
