I feel a little bad about this

So earlier at work this week, an email was sent to all the managers in the building to vote for or reject the idea of having a pumpkin decorating contest where each dept would carve and/or decorate a pumpkin (not during work hours mind you) and submit for judging. and there would be some prize for the top 3 or something;

anyway, it was presented as ACCEPT or REJECT in Outlook and so I read through it, thought about it for about 20 seconds and clicked on REJECT.

I dont have time for carving pumpkins nor do i have time for facilitating it for my area. We are very busy and this is extraneous stuff there's really no time , especially right now.

Well i didnt think anything of it until the other manager came to introduce herself to me in my office (totally nice lady) and after a brief introductory discussion, she sneaks in the pumpkin contest and says "so....you voted against it? was there a reason why?"


FUCK. i immediately felt like a complete douche. I bet out of all the managers, im the only asshole who voted against it. i just know it.

so i had to backpeddle and without trying to sound like a complete jerk, I just said, "well I suppose if those in my area are interested in it, they can certainly decorate a pumpkin but i most definitely do not have time for pumpkins or pumpkin contests." *smile*

i bet other people are wishing they hit reject too- because now they look like they're all into slacking off and you're not.

I agree, you are the only one with the balls to voice this shit, cause you are the only one who is busting your ass to be productive. I know U, productivity is a big thing for U. Feeling useful, and getting shit done is value you respect. The other peeps know this too. Dude look at your weekends, its only couch time after you do the Villa on meth like cleaning, hatin on clutter, and reconstruction shit that U do.
Yeah, I do know how you feel, I've been that voice and uttered it without thinking, and then later feel like an ass. I'm almost paranoid bout it always, cause it has kinda costed me in the past.

Pumpkins, fucking pumpkins, dude, I mean cmon'. What is this a nursing home, or fucking arts and crafts. This was the voice in your head. Thing is smurf you have such an acutive emotional sensitivity, we talked bout this before ya know, that inherent guilt is only normal.
This kinda thing was gonna happen, but no need to allow a down feeling pervade you, its not like you betrayed someone and thought it was funny.
Nor do the other managers view you as a douche, they just don't have the attitiude you got most likely, so yeah arts and crafts sounds good.
