HP laying off 25,000 employees

Companies go where the skills go. And the skills are no longer in the US.

not even close. companies go where they can pay some 10 year old orphan 25cents a week to do what an american would make $25hr. has NOTHING to do with 'skill set'

I'm talking about skilled jobs. I don't think these were 2,500 manual labor factory jobs. Those jobs were outsourced decades ago!

No one manufactures anything in US silly goose.

not entirely true, but it still has NOTHING to do with skills. One major issue is that american union workers have pretty much fucked themselves in the long run by being greedy bastards. I know in GM plants people are making 100k to put lug nuts on newly built vehicles.

it always has and always will have to do with $$$$$$

Ever been to a hospital? Or an IT dept? Or the H1B visa? Guess the ethnicity of most of the skilled workers. Majority of Americans I've met in IT environments are useless morons who want a paycheck and run home.

Unions are also a big cause. Americans are fucking themselves in many areas. LA has a 60% H.S. dropout rate. Sweet.

and where do these dr's and IT guys get their schooling?!?!?!?

manual/techical jobs that are going over seas are going over there b/c it is cheap. Why else would they lay off someone who has done a job for 25+ years and knows it inside and out. BECAUSE THEY CAN GET SOMEONE TO DO IT CHEAPER.

even the average american minimum wage an hr is higher than some of these people are getting paid in a full week, and no factory/technical position is making minimum wage here.
