31 OCT my Old Grump and I will be celebrating 2 years of matrimonial insanity.
Neither one of us were EVER going to get married again, hell we didn't even want a standard bf/gf relationship and yet by the end of our first date he was thinkin marriage. 'Course I can't really recall when he first intimated that to me. And I said, "Well, sure... why not?" We were married on our third date.
Funny thing, total strangers said to us on our FIRST date, after we had only been together for a couple of hours, "Wow you guys look like you have been married FOREVER." We get it all the time. "What do you mean you guys have only been married 2 years? You guys act like you have been together FOREVER." ... and they mean that in a positive way.
Dunno what to tell you if you are young. My first marriage wasn't anything like my last. I was too young and immature and definitely got married for the wrong reasons. Matter of fact, I didn't even love my Old Grump when I married him.
Perhaps the key is to NOT "marry" for love?
My first husband was a lesson. My last husband is a gift.
