eating out often- and staying on diet..help!!

OK...my boyfriend loves to go out to eat 3-4 times a week minimum...

I usually try and order some kind of chicken and fish, with vegetables, but I usually end up getting a plain grilled chicken salad...beacuse everything else is cooked with butter or oil, or cheese etc....I always stay away from the bread on the table, and dessert..and I;m not really a drinker, so I am ok there....

He is really starting to think I'm a freak for always getting the same thing...plus, what about at an italian place? What do you do there??

What do all of you do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Well this is a tricky situation....

There's really no way to eat out often and maintain a strict diet - unless you are not shy about constantly requesting specially prepared items. Most restaurants will take special orders - but then you run the risk of looking like a "freak" in front of the people you are dining with. If you're dedicated enough then you shouldn't worry too much about what people think - but I know that's easier said than done....

You have to make a choice - what matters the most? Your diet or the impressions people have of you??

At Italian places I try to have just spaghetti with marinara sauce it is usually pretty safe high in calories and not much protein but decent evough of a meal to get by with. I usually splurge and eat the bread :( I know not good but so good!

It is totally possible to eat a good diet and while eating out often. You just can't be afraid to ask how meals are cooked, what is in them, if you can substitute a baked potato for fries, etc. Most places will help you out.

my boyfriend luvs italian food...so when we go out i order grilled fish and salad..there is always that option there. dont eat the pastas!! well, i wouldnt anyway...but if you r really stuck greek salad w dressing on the side is an option

Eating at restaurants is definately a tricky one. I always order special and ask for not too much oil or broiled no sauce, whatever. If I go to Italian restaurants I either get cavetelli w/broccoli and ask for grilled chicken or just a plain chicken

I take it your bf is lucky and doesn't need to worry about weight?

you got it...he can eat anything he wants..and he doesnt gain any weight...

however...he really doesnt eat that much....weekdays lunch and dinner...and usually one meal on weekends...

I know one day it will catch up with him...haha...and then he will have to start watching....
