A marriage counselor friend of mine once encapsulated his experience in this one saying, "Men get married hoping their wife will never change and women get married hoping to change their husband."

This was 100% accurate in my marriage, I was happy with her but she had things she wanted/thought would change once we got married. She wanted me to be a "home improvement" guy, stop lifting weights, run for fitness and become a neat freak. I would rather take on another project to make the money to pay someone to do the job correctly, I'm not a neat freak but I am clean, and I was 235 pounds when she met me and had been living this lifestyle for years; She didn't like me "being so big."

people are stupid. and childish. and unrealistic. it's no fun being level headed and intelligent and think about the future when making decisions. I take so much joy in watching marriages fall apart.

Some truth here bor but no joy when there are kids involved.


Getting married young is tough, you don't know who you are yet. At 30 I feel like I am just now theoretically ready for it.

And because 'money is the root of all evil'

Girls = (Evil)^1/2 x (Evil)^1/2
Girls = Evil

A problem with this proof occurred to me immediately: Since evil is negative, the square root of evil must be imaginary, which would mean that money is imaginary, and therefore, by definition, so is time.

Then I realized that, in my life at least, that's pretty much true.

I've gotta say that this, by far, is one of the most depressing threads that I've seen in along time. We can all theorize about why people split up and why people don't get along; but I'm getting the sense that some of you are relishing it and think that anyone who gets married must be an idiot.

Then, maybe its just me. Maybe I'm sensing what a bitter bunch of people post on this site. Maybe I'm just tired about reading why women are this, men are that, repubs are this, liberals are that, or why last night was so and so. Maybe I'm beginning to notice all the threads are the same.

my kids will ALWAYS come first, and if HE can't accept it ....... than goodbye. i'd expect the same from him. My kids are my world. and then..... there comes my happiness, me being content, satisfied, dare i just accept what is there? hell no!

and this is why so many women end up single after the kids turn 18.

Your spouse should ALWAYS come first. Your kid turn 18 they go on to lead their own lives..they are their own entities.. they will grow up and move on.

But with that attitude you put them first.. and expect your spouse to just stand by .. a second class citizen in the household and marriage any wonder why they wander???

THIS is one of the main reasons why so many marriages fail.. women mistakingly make children the priority.

ONLY when they are extremely young should the come first..


but I dont really need to argue the point.. all ANYONE has to do is look at all the miserable housewives who end up divorced after 18 years of shitty marriage.. man finds himself a new lovely wife and she is this bitter old hag wondering where she went wrong.

This is one of the mopst BASIC differences between men and women. Men still consider their wife the priority even after children are born.. most women do not. The ones who find balance have good marriages.. and happy husbands who dont wander.

To each their own.. but I bet 99% of the married men here would agree and probably some of the married women if they were honest.
