carbs ....myths revealed in mag? tru

whatever the reason, no pros do keto-I know a pro who eats anything he wants and is in 50 times better shape than me-even though I eat nothing but fish, chicken, turkey

missyd143-

Different diets have their place. I personally subscride to a high carb diet since I'm an endurance athlete, but that might not be right for everyone. Everyone's body will react differently. I know endurance athletes on high protein diets who do great. Personally I am not a fan of diets where protein intake is higher than carb intake. Carbs are the body's main source of fuel and I think a lot of people forget that carbs are used to create necessary chemicals for the CNS!

You can eat anyway and anytime you want if you are attentive to detail. To stay lean it is basically calories vs. calories out. You could eat like shit, but if you take enough supplements to off set that you'll get all your dietary needs. That's not a good way to fuel the ole bod but it works...sometimes.

I respectfully submit the following:
If your under 35 and or have less than 10%bf to loose then a keto diet is just one way to go. At 40 years old keto is my friend.
Harmful? I need to see top notch research papers on it. A 62 year old bodybuilder in my old gym had been on 20 carbs for 10 years w/ occasional carb ups. He was big, ripped, and healthy.
Bottom line all you hot young bodybuilding studs and goddesses are less likely to need to go keto.

I think Arnold says to stay out of Ketosis because its not a good state to be in for BODY BUILDING. Some people want to drop weight, others fat, others want to loose fat while building muscle and don't care about a scale. They are more concerned with how they look. I mean come on, there are dozens of different goals out there.

True. But, unless I misunderstood her original post, it was in reference to bodybuilding, which is why I cited Arnold.

Actually, if you are referring to Arnold's Encylopedia of Bodybuilding, this is probably Bill Dobbins who is listed as the co-author and probably wrote much of the book. Plus Arnold's take on ketosis is crap. If I remember correctly he says it's dangerous(I could be wrong here) which is patently false. Many people can and do gain muscle on a keto diet, but for many others it is unnecessary and other options will work just as well or better. I, for one, hate CKD's and am currently trying a CID to see how it compares. So far, things look good, and I'm able to train much harder. Have to give it another month or so before I render a final verdict, however.

Well, some people confuse Ketosis with Ketoacidosis which s a dangerous condition that occurs in a diabetic whose blood sugar levels are out of control.

DKA, diabetic ketoacidosis is a life-threatening condition. You do use fats as energy in both however. I do a lot better w/ a low carb or moderate carb diet. Keto seems to waste away at my muscles more.

heyi agree wit u but i think cardio is good to lose fat?? what if that dont work i cant overtrain b/c i will lose muscle..and i kno this kid that works out eats whatever sat netime sometimes he misses meals cause he tooo busy....actually alot of girls and guys do and they are still kinda ripped or skinney@!! i think the truth is really calories in vs vcalories out....for some its not they have to go with hight protein or ckd;s...any advice?

Missyd, you are by far the most annoying poster in these forums. You are asking the same question again and again and again and again. Snap out of it. You won't get abs in two weeks. People have told you what to do, stick with it and leave us alone. Geez!
