Yeah... collective. Peeps feel a kinship with their locale.
With internet, and geography becoming less of a binding/bonding thing, this is something nice.

For example, my parents 2nd home, in columbia mo, and the friend, who I was crashing on his couch while staying here in KC, know their neighbors pretty well... However, when I visit my parents in Vegas... no such thing.

Communal is nice.
