okay tile wont work on my condo floor it is concrete on the second floor and cracks in it.
So i am going to but in linoleum. At hoime depot they have he 12 inch squares of some actually nice stuff with adhesive backing.

How do i remove the old linoleum well enough to adhere these to the floor.
Also since they are individual pieces any tip for bathroom install as this is a wet area

First of all, pulling up linoleum SUCKS. Let me repeat that, it SUCKS. You will need to scrape that adhesive off really well if you want to lay more linoleum. I find a paint scraper works the best, though a wide chisel and hammer will spare some elbow grease.

But, just because you have cracks in your floor doesn't mean you can't lay tile. Who told you this? If you want to be really anal you can fill the cracks, or you could just leave them. "It aint' a piano," its a floor. You know, you won't need to scrape nearly as much if you lay tile. Besides, tile looks better.

But, if your heart is set on linoleum, don't use tiles. Tiles don't last nearly as long. Use a roll.

Happy scraping :(

SEE???

I told you your contractor was full of shit.

Why didn't you take my word for it? (no offense BigJ)
I'm in the freakin' business!

You can get those white ceramic 6X6 tiles at Home Depot.

OII GAVON!

You see people what I put up with? You have no idea how people will take a man's word but always double check a woman. Fuckers. BAH!

I don't know what your residence looks like but you have no idea (and for very little money) just how awesome you can make your floor look just by acid etching the concrete, seal and clear coating it.

Think outside the box when it comes to the look of your home. You'd be surprised by how cost effective and creative you can get by doing this.

those linoleum squares floors are a pain to keep clean, the glue keeps coming thru at the edges and hold all the dirt, moping wont take care of it either...

how long does it take to acid etch ? I have to have flooring in by sunday so those vinyl tile things are the easiest route

Why do you have until Sunday ?

As far as how long depends on what pattern or design your looking for and the contractor who you hire, and I wouldn't recommend you doing it yourself. Still in all it's cheaper in cost, very durable, cooler especially in Nevada, and is far more beautiful than any other type of flooring out there.

If you had longer than until Sunday then I would say look in the yellow pages under concrete to find contractors that do it.

Also if you are still interested in doing that, then do a search on dogpile.com or other search engines using "acid etch concrete" for the search.
