Best way to go about finding a job in NYC without living there?

sure if u want to take a complete chance on landing a job you may not like or in an area you hate.

use craigslist or myspace - find a roommate for $500 or whatever. move in. find a job wherever. then move to a new place.

you can also look for a place to live in westchester and take the metro north into the city - not a bad route for your first few years, actually I really can't see you living in queens - brooklyn yes, queens no

good lucky dave - I think you're making a fantastic choice with this and I wish you best in your career endeavors

I will be graduating may 08 masters accounting and want to move to NYC. Obviously I will need a job and want to know the best way to go about getting a job there before signing a lease or anything like that. Should I just get some money together and move there and get a job before the cash runs out or is there another way to successfully get to NYC ?
networking is the best way

don't give life altering advice about a city you have no clue about.

what you said makes absolutely no sense and it's not that easy to just pick up and move there.

renting a place is not the same in NYC as it is anywhere else.

and lol @ 500 bucks.

you can crash on my beanbag chair, bro. but you'll have to be shirtless and thong-equipped.

i mean that in a hetero kind of way.

you live in jersey rob, no dice.

true, but i'm in jersey city. if you don't know what that means, never mind. i'm closer than queens or brooklyn.

but seriously, if you need any help, let me know. if you'd like, you can forward me your resume and any additional background on what you know and you'd like to do. when i get back to work, if i hear of anything that might be suitable, and i can appropriately pass it along, perhaps i will.

I know where jc is, looks about the same distance from queens/bkln more or less but from what Ive heard it takes longer to get to manhattan from jc logistically. what are the rents like for efficiency or 1br or 2br with roommate? check your pm, thanks rob.

hoboken is right there...take the path train and you're there in 5 mins.

all my friends from college (when i went to college in NJ), live there now.

loving it apparently

it's not cheap anymore though. lots of people live in hoboken now (including eli manning lololol).
