arnolds word on protein

JA_RULE said:
Yeah I tried that 1 gram per 2lbs of body weight program through out high school and college track. All it did for me is make me a skinny ass white kid. I finally decided to raise my protein to 1.5 grams per 1lb of body weight, that's when I finally started to see changes from my workouts. :D :D

You know that could be bacuse of the higher caloric intake overall caused by upped protein intake. Not neccesarity due to the protein only. What i am saying is that if you increased the same ammount of calories from fat you could have had the same effect.

I am fairly sceptical of all the claims of this neccesity of extremly high protein intake. Let's face it, it's all the supplement companies that peddle that crap. Don't get me wrong, protein is important, very important but i do not O.D. on it.

Sincerely :nopity:

i dont know a whole lot about diet, but i do have to agree with what he said about 400 grams of protein is too much.. i have read that doctors have said that there is no proof showing more muscle gains or any gains from taking in more that .8 to 1.0 grams of protein per pound of body weight.. my proplem is how can you take in that much protein in a 24 hour period.. you have to sleep work and work out.. and your body can only process around 40 grams of protein every 3 hours.. there is just not enough time in the day to take in 400 grams of protein.. i have also talked to doctors and i know they know more about nutritien than all of us and said that if you take in more protein than you can process you just piss it a way..

LoL, uhhh yea...

Only when i started eating 420 grams of protein a day did I start to gain about 2 lbs A WEEK! NATURALLLLLLLLLLLY. In about 5 months time i put on 35lbs of mass on. You will NEVER make gains off of .8 to 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight, unless you are a beginer or a genetic freak. NEVER. EVER. EVER. NEVER EVER!!!!!!

Sure maybe for maintaing your muscle, 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight will do it.... BUT AS FAR AS BULKING GOES,, YOU NEED AT LEASSSSSSSSSSSST 1.5 to 2.

Yeah it's alot of food, 420 grams of protein, but so what, handle it.

And another thing, Your body can HANDLE 100 GRAMS OF PROTEIN PER MEAL, if you need it. You actually think your body is designed to just "piss away" protein? Our body's havn't evolved much from back in tha cave man days, back then, they would probably get one meal a day with meat, if that. You think they only ate a certain amount of the meat...Hell no, they would most likely stuff themselves until beyond bloated, just like cheetas, jaguars, lions, bears and other animals do.

So please stop reading your Men's Health and Oprah Magazine, because the info is complete and total Bullshit.

you always make things so simple when it comes to diet lol :)

btw, how much calorie intake did arnold suggest?
bodyweight X what?
i am guessing around 12-15?

thanks :)

LoL, I know.

Arnold actually had different phases or levels that he suggested. Level 1, 2 and 3. LoL. He didn't really recommend actual calorie intake but rather emphasized the importance of EATING in general and Protein intake. He actually seemed to put a lot more energy towards working out to put on weight.

For instance to lose fat, he would recommond cutting back only a little on calories and instead include lots of Cardio to burn fat.

I don't agree with a lot of his princibles but hey who tha fuck am I to argue with Arnold.

i believe in real studies.. not what everyone else thinks.. you propably gained the weight because of the calories you were taking in to get that much protein

You know what ma'am, i don't feel like argueing with you ma'am, just go ahead and continue to eat your .8grams per lb of bodyweight ma'am, hope you gain weight ma'am, good luck ma'am, take care ma'am, hope you grow big and strong ma'am, good day ma'am.

look i do take in more than that because it makes me feel better. but not 400 grams.. i take in about 200 grams.. and by the way i am growing.. i have went from 176 to 188 in 5 weeks not 5 months.. my bench has went up 30lbs and my squats have went up 40lbs.. so dont get mad when i state a fact

At the times when Arnold built foundation of his physique, he had no idea how to count protein. I read that he would take a gallon of milk to movie theater and finish it while watching movie.
Or, one day, visiting his freinds in London, he weighted himself and he was something like 197lb (I don't remember exact number) He said that he's not going to go to bed until he reaches 200lb, so he kept eating steaks and fried eggs and going back to scale.
He had gut approache, not grams-etc...
Same with training...

he also said that his favorite pre and post workout thing to do was to drink and smoke dope.. he was taking alot of drugs so he could do what ever he wanted
