anyone drink alcohol?

Calories and carbs in beer:

The amount of calories is going to depend on the beer it will vary a lot - specificaly depending on the beer brand/light/full/etc.

Miller Light is 96 calories and 3.2 carbs I believe, Beast Light is 98 and 3.5, south paw light is 123 and 6 carbs, etc.

If it's only 3.2, 3.5 and 6 carbs which is 13, 14 and 24 calories, where do the remaining calories come from ?

Here is a list of beer cals:
http://www.theraven.com/beer.html

Generally, 1 jigger (1 1/2 ounces) of liquor (gin, rum, vodka and whiskey) contains:

* 97 calories
* 0 gm protein
* 0 gm fat
* 0 gm carbohydrate
* 14 grams alcohol

Kalua, a coffee liqueur, 1 jigger ( 1 1/2 ounces) has:

* 160 calories
* 0 gm protein
* 0 gm fat
* 17 gm carbohydrate
* 14 gm alcohol

The calories in alcoholic beverages come from alcohol, which contributes 7 calories per gram as opposed to 4 calories per gram for protein and carbohydrate and 9 calories per gram for fat. So if you take 7 calories per gram times approximately 14 grams of alcohol per jigger (1 1/2 ounces), this equals 98 calories. If the alcoholic beverage such as a liqueur also contains carbohydrate, then the calories for this beverage will be even higher and you can multiply the grams of carbohydrate times 4 to get the carbohydrate calories.

12 oz beer = 150 calories
12 oz lite beer = 110 calories
5 oz wine = 90 calories
1 1/2 oz liquor = 90 calories (with 6 oz carbonated drink mix add another 75 calories)

Latest research shows that 1 drink per day does not result in weight gain, which surprised me. However, persons who consume large amounts of alcohol and little food usually lose weight and have protein calorie malnutrition. Alcohol has been found to stimulate the appetite and one drink before meals has been prescribed for adults with a poor appetite.

If I was on a deserted island and has to choose between an endless supply of alcohol or weed I would have to choose the weed...much better and dosen't make you fat- well unless you get the munchies...alcohol is overrated, but still nice in moderation.

Beer definitely makes you look bloated the next day. Try drinking red wine, or scotch on the rocks (if your out with the boys). You'll look much leaner in the morning.

i am also suprised about the small amount of carbs in light beer,
i do like to drink 1-2 days a week, so now i will not feel so guilty when i have a few beers this weekend
