By being able to do more pushups, does that equate into more strength?

In other words, does doing lots of pushups increase strength at all? or just muscle endurance?

It does increase strength, but at some point more reps doesn't translate to a higher max weight. For that you need to train with heavy weights.

Endurance.

you won't be able to bench 300 pounds by just increasing your pushup count no

but it does increase strength to a degree.

guys like hershel walker never weight trained in their lives, they just have amazing genetics and did a lot of pushups and pullups. i know a lot of guys like this. edgerrin james never weight trained, he worked on his grandpa's watermelon farm growing up and built strong arms carrying watermelons lol

Basically strength & endurance. You cant put a ton of muscle mass with push ups only but its a good start to lifting heavier weights!

Increasing the number of pushups definitely increase strength. While adding more exercises relating push ups is best idea to train muscles hard and increasing their strength.
